John J. Maberry

John Maberry, 84, of Silvis, IL, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. In accordance with his wishes, a private family committal will be held at a later date. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline is assisting the family with arrangements.

John was born June 21, 1938, in Jefferson City, MO, a son of Andrew Jack Maberry and Bertha Peterson Maberry. He was the youngest of 4 children in his family. He joined the Army in 1956 where he served for 4 years. He married his wife of 50 years, Bernice Maberry on December 19 1964 in Rapids City SD. She preceded him in death on January 1, 2015.

John was a tree trimmer in his younger days before he found his career job with John Deere. He was also a firefighter during that time. He worked for John Deere for 30 plus years as a metallurgist until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, his cabin on the Rock River, boating, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and going on family trips. He spent 30 plus years enjoying his retirement. He truly lived a full life.

Survivors include his children, Leah Maberry, of Silvis and Andy (Miranda) Maberry, of East Moline; grandchildren, Ashlyn Stoedter, Andrew Stoedter, Danielle Pridemore, Brianna Simmons, Cassandra Nevarez, Eve Nevarez; great grandchildren Tycen and Jaxson Wessels, Logan and Greyson Pridemore; many friends from The Brown Jug that he had met over the years; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Special thanks to close friends, Cindy, Heather, Jeff, Marc, and Sharon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Maberry, parents, and siblings Jack, Sharon, and Shirley.
