Lois P. Sands, 88, Moline, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Hope Creek, East Moline. Funeral services are 12 Noon on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 11AM until service time, with a rosary recited at 11:45 AM. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Lois was born on June 21, 1927 in Rock Island. She married John "Jack" Sands on July 7, 1945 in Rock Island. He died in 1989. She retired from John Deere in 1978 as an Industrial Engineer. Lois enjoyed reading, needlepoint, sewing, dancing, working puzzles and being with her family. Lois had volunteered for the Moline Literacy Council as a tutor. Survivors include her children, Michael (Carol) Sands, Madison, WI, Stephen Sands, East Moline, Kenneth (Marsha) Sands, Cedar Hill, MO, Kathy (Larry) Lyle, Moline and Darlene (William) Fairman, Aledo, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Mary DeSchoemaeker.
