Marjorie Clevenger Obituary

Marjorie Ann Clevenger, 83, born February 7, 1940, in East Moline, Illinois, passed away on May 6, 2023 at her home of 60 years in Silvis, IL. She went to be with our Lord after a short battle with cancer. Marjorie lived a full life as a faithful daughter, admired sister, loving and dedicated wife, and adored mother. Marjorie is survived by her adoring husband of 62 years, Ronald Clevenger; her children, Carrie Susan (Eric) Pena, Fresno, TX, Debra Lynn Barrett, Colona, IL, Donald Wayne Clevenger (long-time partner, Tina Stoddard),Colona, Jane Clevenger, Silvis, and Melisa Marie Clevenger (husband, Terry Plumb), Colona; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Charlson and Betty DeMont; and brother-in-law Steve Trego.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Marcel DeMeyer; sister, Nancy Trego; son, Timothy Alan Clevenger; and grandchildren Christopher Wendell Barrett and Abbi Lynn Clevenger LaFrance.

During her amazing life, Marg is known for her commitment to family and community as noted in her many photo albums. She served the local community through her devotion to her Catholic faith at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, by teaching CCD classes and being a leader in Girl Scouts. She taught us all how to fish; at the end of the day, she usually had caught the biggest one! Sundays after church was the family fishing day. Business came natural to Marg, as demonstrated through her management of the family tax and electrical businesses. Most of her birthday pictures were taken at the family tax office. She was very proud of her genealogy research. She wrote 3 books on her family histories and geneology. But her greatest life contributions were helping each of her children to find their way through family leadership and individualized support. Timothy refused to take his Kindergarten picture so Marjorie jumped right up to hold him in the picture and with tears in his eyes, he overcame that trauma with her by his side. Mom, we will miss your strength and devotion until we meet again on the other side of this life.
