Marvin C. Peterson

Marvin C. Peterson, 79, of Silvis, IL, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at Genesis-Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion, IL. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, East Moline.

Marvin was born November 27, 1943, in Moline, Illinois, a son of Carl and Dorris Cox Peterson. He graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1961.

Marvin was a driver for MetroLINK for many years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Rock Island Moose Lodge, enjoyed genealogy, Illinois basketball, and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and “Rocky” high school sports fan. Some of his favorite times were those spent with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed following their sports activities and being their number one fan.

Surviving are his children, Martin (Allison) Peterson, Bettendorf, Iowa, Melissa Peterson, Moline, IL, and Matthew (Lanie) Peterson, Moline; grandchildren, Seth Long, Ayden Long, and Tarynn (Jake) Davis; great grandchildren, Zalin and Zinnee Jo; brother, Dr. Norman (Joann) Peterson, Seattle, WA; sister, Sandra Chipman, Milan, IL; and other family.

Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Trask, and his parents.
