Shorty was born June 22, 1944, in Nettie, WV, the son of Henry R. and Lottie G. Cutlip Fields. He married Rose Burnett September 17, 1966, in Moline, IL. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline, in 2005. He was a member of the Rock Island Eagles and UAW Local 865.
If you knew Shorty you knew that he mostly enjoyed his Busch Lights, and hearing his great grandkids calling him GG. Shorty was the man that everyone called when they needed help with anything, and he’d show up with a smile on his face and a Busch Light in hand. Shorty was an avid golfer with his closest friends; Ron Higgerson, Stephen Harper, and Rick Westerlund.
He will definitely be loved and missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rose Fields, Moline; children, Roxanna (Michael) Burns, Davenport, IA, Rachel Streeter, Lynn Center, IL, Roben (Larry) Campbell, Rock Island, and Robert (Nicole) Fields, Fort Payne, AL; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and 7 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 siblings; and his mother-in-law, Alberta Brown.
