Roberta A. Hill, 82, of East Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park, Moline. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Two Rivers YMCA, Moline.
Roberta was born February 29, 1940 in East Moline, Illinois. As a leap year baby she liked to joke about how young she was, having only 20 “official” birthdays. She graduated from UTHS in 1958.
She met Elwood “Woody” Hill at Bituminous Insurance where they both worked. They married and Roberta soon became a full-time mother. Over the years she organized numerous family holidays, reunions, wiener roasts and other family events. She was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was known for her cheerful sense of humor, boisterous laugh, and delicious potato salad. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, crossword puzzles and reading, but most of all, spending time with family.
Roberta is survived by Woody, her husband of 61 years; her four children, Dianna Hill, East Moline, Ken (Janet) Hill, Port Byron, Robert (Chrissy) Hill, East Moline, Sharon (Ricky) Duarte, Tubac, AZ, and her brother Arthur (Diane) Fanter, Coal Valley.
Roberta was a cherished grandmother of eight; Alyssa, Ryan, Murphy, Louis, David, Rebecca, James and Sarah, as well as great grandmother to Vivienne, Nathan, Elijah and one more on the way.
Roberta was united in heaven with her parents, Louis and Gertrude Fanter, sister Dorothy Zvonik and brother, John Fanter.
Roberta had many more relatives and friends who will always carry fond memories of her.
