Russell L. Toland

Russell L. Toland, 76, of Hampton, IL, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his home, following an extended illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial with military honors will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, at the funeral home.

Russell was born May 22, 1946 in Macomb, Illinois, a son of Robert L. and Wilma D. Hillyer Toland. He attended Moline High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war era. Russell married Debra S. Pilgrim Woolums on August 31, 2009 in Colona, IL.

Russell was a car salesman for over 50 years for many area dealerships.

He was an avid Illini fan and enjoyed gardening and car racing.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie, of Hampton; children, Michael R. (Pam) Toland, Colona, Stephanie R. (Jose) Gallegos, Hampton, and Daniel C. (Carrie) Toland, Silvis; step children, Roger (Lisa) Woolums, Geneseo and Ryan Woolums, Silvis; grandchildren, Michael Alba, Evan Toland, Justin Toland, Cristian Gallegos, Liliana Gallegos, Brenna Toland, James Toland, Brody Toland and Ellianna Woolums; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Chelstrom; and brother, Robert Toland.
