Patricia VanBruwaene Obituary

Patricia A. VanBruwaene, 71, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 11 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-6 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials my be made to Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline.

 

Pat was born on November 28, 1949 in Moline, the daughter of Adolph and Alice (Windey) VanBruwaene. She graduated from UTHS class of 1967. She received her BA in Business Administration in 1974 and her MBA in 1984 from St. Ambrose University. Patricia retired from Deere & Company in 2001 as Manager of Employee Benefits. She held numerous positions within the company at various manufacturing units as well as Corporate Headquarters. Pat served as President of the Illinois Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce and the Quad City Council of Chambers. She was instrumental in the completion of John Deere Road by forming a cooperative venture among Quad City governments and legislators. She was past President of St. Ambrose University Alumni Executive Committee and received the St. Ambrose Alumni Award. A founding member of the Illinois Quad Cities Travel & Visitors Bureau and later merged it with the Davenport and Bettendorf Tourism Bureaus to form the Quad Cities Travel & Visitors Bureau. In 1994 she received the Rotary Club's Golden Book of Good Deeds for community service. Pat was devoted to her community but the love for her family and friends was endless.

 

Survivors include her kitty Abby, many cousins, including Cheryl Soucinek, Carrie O'Neill, Sherrie Brown, John Dixon, Brian Soucinek and the Windey cousins in the Marshall, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota areas.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and cousins Joanne (Ron) Dixon, Patrick Dixon, Cheryl Soucinek's husband Jim and John Dixon's wife Dawn who passed away in September.
